Oxford Edens is a gardening business based in Heyford Park, maintaining private gardens and commercial grounds across Oxfordshire. The business is experiencing strong and consistent growth and there is an immediate need for an ambitious, industrious and enthusiastic individual to join the team as a Gardener. Like our clients, we expect all work to be carried out to consistently high standards, often exceeding expectations. We are looking for someone who has this approach to their work and the ability to get their team to do the same.

The successful applicant must have the following, which are essential:

  • Qualification in horticulture and at least 2 years’ experience working in garden or grounds maintenance.
  • Strong plant knowledge, experience of working with various plant types and the ability to identify plants, with a good awareness of the different pruning requirements for different plant types.
  • Good ability to identify common pests and diseases.
  • Strong knowledge and experience of the tasks required to maintain lawns and borders.
  • Honest and personable character with excellent timekeeping and organisational skills, and flexibility in their approach to tasks and schedules.
  • Good communicator and ability to act as a mentor and decision maker.
  • Ability to work under pressure, in all weathers and solve problems as and when they arise.
  • Full and clean UK driving licence and their own car for use to and from work. During the day you will be required to drive company vans.

The successful applicant will ideally have the following, although not essential as we do invest in training our empoyees:

  • soft landscaping experience including the management of turfing jobs from site preparation through to turf laying and the development of planting plans, with experience of planting to a scheme (including the selection of the appropriate composts)
  • chainsaw certification and experience of pruning or lopping small trees
  • a PA1 and PA6 certificate with spraying experience within the last six months

  • Hours:5 per week, predominantly Monday to Friday but weekend work will be required very occasionally.
  • Reporting to:Director
  • Location:Starting and finishing the day in Heyford Park, OX25 5HD

 

About Oxford Edens

Oxford Edens is a gardening business based in Heyford Park, maintaining private gardens and commercial grounds across Oxfordshire. All our gardeners have studied or are currently studying horticulture. The business is experiencing strong and consistent growth and there is an immediate need for an ambitious, industrious and enthusiastic individual to join the team as a full-time trainee Gardener. It is anticipated that the individual will grow with the business. Plenty of support and training will be given.

The successful applicant must have the following, which are essential:

  • An interest in horticulture and be willing to develop their plant and all round gardening knowledge
  • Be happy to work outside in all weathers
  • A personable character with excellent timekeeping and organisational skills, and flexibility in their approach to tasks and schedules

 

The successful applicant will ideally have the following:

  • Experience of working outside and using lawnmowers, strimmers and hedgecutters.
